Creative direction & production
The tactile nature of print projects makes them an important part of a brand experience, particularly for luxury brands. At Urban Zen, I was responsible for the concept and production of print materials for seasonal collections and event activations, such as: lookbooks, large-scale banners and decals, product display signs, hangtags and packaging, postcards, business cards and memo pads.
Though the layout of a print project is obviously an integral factor to its success, I find it's just as important to focus on material and process. I've sourced papers that have both a luxury and handcrafted touch, and found vendors that can bring my ideas to life. One of my favorite print projects involved large scale photo prints for the stores, using fine Japanese paper. I've worked with a range of printers, from more established ones such as Laumont Studio, to independent artisan printers such as Uptown Fine Art Printing. For seasonal lookbooks, I've made sure the paper has a toothy quality to bring a rawness and textural quality to the piece, and when offset printing wasn't an option, worked with a printer to produce them on indigo digital printing presses.
I've also developed fundraising collateral packages and event materials for the Urban Zen Foundation – from annual reports to event journals, auction books, and donation cards.
